🧶 TOTE-ally September — Walker Pouch

Today’s pattern is a little different—and a very personal one for me.

I originally designed this Walker Pouch for my mom.

As she got older and began using a walker, I noticed a simple problem: she needed both hands to move safely, which made it difficult to carry the little things she wanted with her from room to room.

Her glasses.
Her phone.
The TV remote.
All those small everyday things we don’t think twice about carrying until our hands aren’t free to carry them anymore.

So I did what crocheters do…I made something.

I designed this little 11″ x 6″ pouch to attach to the front of her walker, with a button closure at the top so her things would stay secure even when the walker was folded up for the car.

My mom has since passed away, so this pattern holds a little extra meaning for me now. ❤️

And I’ve often thought this could be a lovely project for crocheters who enjoy making things to donate. At just 22 rounds, it’s a relatively small Level 1–Easy mosaic crochet project. Imagine making a few in cheerful colors and donating them to a local nursing home, assisted-living community, rehabilitation center, or senior organization for residents who use walkers.

Sometimes crochet doesn’t have to be elaborate to make someone’s day-to-day life just a little bit easier.

🧶 Have you ever crocheted something specifically to solve a practical problem for someone you love?

I’d love to hear what you made.

The Walker Pouch is today’s slightly-not-a-tote 😉 featured pattern in my TOTE-ally September Sale.
