How many hours do you REALLY have to crochet between now and Christmas?
We all know there’s a big difference between the projects we want to finish and the time we actually have available!
I thought it might be helpful to share how long different projects typically take ME to complete. Keep in mind, everyone crochets at their own pace, and that’s perfectly okay!
Here’s a little perspective from my own crochet experience:
🧶 Placemat: 5–7 hours each
🧶 Table Runner: 20–25 hours
🧶 Tote: 20–25 hours
🧶 Blanket: 100+ hours
Now, those numbers might sound a little intimidating, but here’s something worth remembering:
You don’t have to finish a big project for your crochet time to be worthwhile.
If you have an hour each evening, a set of placemats or a table runner might be a satisfying goal. If you have more time available, maybe that Christmas blanket you’ve been eyeing is calling your name!
Or perhaps this is the year to start a beautiful blanket without putting pressure on yourself to finish it by December 25. There’s no rule that says every Christmas crochet project has to be finished THIS Christmas!
My advice? Choose something that fits your available time, your energy, and what you’ll actually enjoy making. Crochet should be something you look forward to, not another deadline hanging over your head.
So tell me: What’s realistic for YOUR crochet time between now and Christmas? A small project, table décor, a tote, or a blanket?
I’d love to hear what you’re planning!
